1. What is a dock hose?
Dock hose is used between shore and ship for bidirectional transfer of liquid and gas; therefore it’s also called ship-to-shore hose. The shore side is usually facility or storage tank on the dock, while the “ship” can be a barge, tanker, or other offshore vessels.
2. What is the production standard of dock hoses?
BS EN 1765 or BS EN 1762. It depends on what the dock hose transfer. For most oils and petroleum-based products, the production is in accordance with EN 1765. If the fluid is natural gas or LPG, EN 1762 will be the manufacturing guideline.
3. What does a dock hose transfer?
Petroleum, crude oil, fuel, marine diesel, heavy fuel oil, gasoline/petrol, lubricating oil, LPG (Liquefied Petroleum Gas), natural gas, etc.
The aromatic hydrocarbon content of the medium should be no more than 50%.
4. Are there other names for dock hose?
Yes. Sometimes it’s also called ship to shore hose, cargo hose, or bunkering hose.
5. What sizes and lengths of dock hoses can you produce?
DeepSee can make ship-to-shore hoses with nominal diameters from 6 inch (150mm) to 24 inch (610mm). Common lengths are 9.1m, 10.7m, 11.8m, and 12.2m. If the inner diameter is between 6 inch (150mm) and 12 inch (305mm), our dock hose can reach up to 50m.
6. Do you have dock hoses in stock?
No, we never stock rubber hoses. Every DeepSee hose is highly bespoke. Dock hose is no exception. For instance, dock hose A works well for customer A, but it may not be useful for customer B. This is attributed to different sea state, environmental conditions, port configuration, transfer requirements, and so on. Each dock hose is designed and manufactured according to the above factors, therefore parameters, pressure ratings, and specifications vary from hose to hose. And this is why dock hose A cannot work for other projects.
7. What is the operating pressure of a dock hose?
Most ship to shore hoses are rated from 15 bar to 21 bar, but higher or lower pressures are also available. It depends on the application. Please contact us to design.
8. What is the temperature range of a dock hose?
Working temperature is from -30℃ to 80℃ (-22℉~176℉).
9. What kind of dock hose do you have?
Light- duty, medium-duty, heavy-duty, and suction and discharge dock hoses are available.
