What is FPSO?
FPSO is short for "Floating Production Storage and Offloading". It’s a floating unit that is moored in a fixed sea area. It’s created to stay there and operate all its service life. As a crucial part of the offshore oil and gas development program, FPSO units transmit power for oilfields, process extracted oil, gas and water mixtures, store petroleum in the hull and then offload onto the shuttle tanker which later goes to the shore when oil capacity reaches a certain amount. FPSO offloading hose are needed at the last step. Ship-to-ship hoses and floating marine hoses will come into use here. The hydrocarbon fluid is offloaded from the FPSO vessel and load into the oil tanker via flexible marine hose. Rubber hose is the middleman in the transfer process.
It can also transfer the fluid through an underwater pipeline, which is seen less often. FPSO offloading is very complicated. The process is done on the sea; therefore, it requires high concentration and motivation to avoid spills.
